Sultan Haitham Visits Special Economic Zone at Duqm, Reviews Development and Investment Projects
Duqm, The Gulf Observer: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman on Wednesday visited the Special Economic Zone at Duqm, where he reviewed major economic, investment and development projects and the zone’s expansion in recent years.
During the visit, His Majesty received a briefing on the Special Economic Zone and the Port of Duqm, including achievements made during the recent period and future plans aimed at strengthening the investment environment and attracting additional local and foreign investment.
The Sultan directed that continued efforts be made to harness the zone’s assets, capabilities and strategic advantages to reinforce its position as a promising economic and logistics hub and maximize the benefits of its strategic location.
Upon his arrival at the Port of Duqm, His Majesty was received by Qais bin Mohammed Al Yousef, Chairman of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones, along with officials from the port and companies operating within the zone.
At the conclusion of the visit, Sultan Haitham recorded a message expressing his appreciation for the achievements he had reviewed and commending the integrated national efforts contributing to the development of the region.
He described the Special Economic Zone at Duqm as a promising zone open to the world’s seas, saying it contributes to the national economy, opens broad prospects for the future and constitutes one of the pillars of Oman Vision 2040.
The Sultan was accompanied during the visit by senior officials, including HH Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs; Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court; Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of Interior; Sultan bin Salim Al Habsi, Minister of Finance; and Abdulsalam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, President of the Oman Investment Authority, among other senior officials.
