Turkmenistan’s Halk Maslahaty Holds Meeting on National Development Priorities

Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: The regular meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan was held at the Maslahat Köşgi Palace in Ashgabat under the chairmanship of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty.

The meeting was attended by members of the Government, deputies of the Mejlis, heads of ministries and state agencies, representatives of political parties and public organizations, media representatives, governors of regions, districts and cities, members of regional, district and city Halk Maslahaty councils, respected elders and other representatives of the public.

Addressing the participants, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov congratulated the gathering and the people of Turkmenistan on the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence, wishing the nation peace, prosperity, good health and well-being.

He noted that Turkmenistan was marking the country’s main national holiday with particular pride during the year designated “Independent and Neutral Turkmenistan – Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses.” He emphasized that significant achievements had been made during the years of independence and highlighted the country’s development and growing international standing.

The meeting underscored that the years of independence had been marked by significant political, economic and cultural developments, reflecting Turkmenistan’s continued progress and its increasing international role. It was also noted that the country’s foreign and domestic policies had received broad support from the international community.

Particular attention was given to Turkmenistan’s efforts to implement the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals under the 2030 Agenda. The country was described as one of the first states to incorporate key global objectives and Sustainable Development Goal indicators into its national development strategies and programmes.

Participants subsequently addressed the agenda items of the Halk Maslahaty meeting. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that the session considered important aspects of the country’s state and socio-political life.

The national forum then continued its work with the participation of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, gave the floor to the head of state.

In his address, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov outlined the government’s efforts to promote Turkmenistan’s socio-economic development and further improve the well-being of its citizens, while identifying priority tasks for the country’s continued development.

During the meeting, the President signed a number of relevant decrees and resolutions. Among the documents approved were the “National Strategy for the Industrial Development of Turkmenistan for 2030–2045,” the National Concept “International Law and Neutrality of Turkmenistan,” and the State Programme in the Field of State Youth Policy in Turkmenistan for the period up to 2031.
