Bayramov Highlights Azerbaijan’s Preparations to Host 2027 OIC Summit

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov addressed the Coordination Meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), reaffirming Azerbaijan’s commitment to strengthening solidarity among OIC member states and addressing challenges facing Muslim communities.

Bayramov congratulated incoming OIC Secretary-General Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed on his appointment and expressed Azerbaijan’s support for his tenure.

The Azerbaijani Foreign Minister stressed the importance of solidarity in confronting rising Islamophobia and discrimination against Muslims, while calling for stronger collective efforts to address violence and intolerance targeting Muslim communities around the world.

Bayramov also reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state and highlighted the country’s continued position on the Palestinian issue.

Expressing concern over the escalation of military conflicts in different parts of the region, he emphasised the need to intensify diplomatic efforts and strengthen coordinated action through the OIC to promote peace, stability and security.

The minister also outlined Azerbaijan’s preparations for hosting the OIC Summit in 2027. Azerbaijan is expected to assume the organisation’s chairmanship and work with the OIC leadership and member states to advance cooperation and strengthen the organisation’s role.

The meeting formed part of ongoing consultations among OIC member states on key regional and international issues and the organisation’s future priorities.
