Hànội Launches Activities to Mark Vietnamese Cultural Day 2026

Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: Hànội has launched a series of cultural and heritage activities to promote Vietnamese cultural values and mark Vietnamese Cultural Day 2026.
The programme, themed “Thăng Long-Hànội: A Thousand Years of Civilisation – A Kaleidoscope of Vietnamese Colours,” was inaugurated at the Việt Nam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism in Ba Vì Ward.
The launch marks the beginning of a series of activities leading up to Vietnamese Cultural Day on November 24, while also supporting the implementation of national and municipal policies aimed at strengthening cultural development and heritage preservation.
Speaking at the event, Vice Chairwoman of the Hànội People’s Committee Vũ Thu Hà said the designation of November 24 as Vietnamese Cultural Day demonstrates the Party and State’s commitment to cultural development and highlights the central role of people in creating, preserving, enjoying and promoting national cultural values.
She stressed the importance of integrating cultural values into daily life and creating greater opportunities for citizens to participate in cultural activities and experience cultural products.
According to Hà, Hà Nội’s thousand-year history and rich cultural heritage provide a strong foundation for preserving and promoting traditional values while harmoniously combining tradition with modernity and turning culture into a driver of socio-economic development.
She called on relevant agencies and cultural institutions to make effective use of public spaces and create favourable conditions for residents and visitors to participate in cultural activities. She also encouraged recognition of outstanding cultural initiatives and called on artists and artisans to continue safeguarding and transmitting traditional heritage to younger generations.
Hà urged young people to take an active role in learning about national heritage and promoting Vietnamese culture, including the distinctive cultural identity of Thăng Long-Hà Nội, both domestically and internationally.
At the event, Nguyễn Hữu Thịnh, Vice Chairman of the Ba Vì Ward People’s Committee, highlighted the area’s diverse cultural traditions, noting the presence of Kinh, Mường and Dao communities. These communities have preserved distinctive cultural practices through their languages, traditional costumes, folk music, dances, rituals and traditional knowledge.
Leaders of Hà Nội and representatives of 10 cities and provinces also signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in organising cultural events and activities at the Việt Nam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism.
The cooperation aims to create favourable conditions for all 54 ethnic groups in Việt Nam to practise, preserve and transmit their traditions and heritage, while strengthening coordination among localities in safeguarding and promoting traditional cultural values.
Following the launch ceremony, a range of cultural activities were held at the village, including traditional performances representing Ba Na, Gia Rai, Êđê, Tày, Thái, Dao, Cơ Tu and Khmer communities. The programme also featured cultural spaces showcasing Thăng Long-Hà Nội, exhibitions of craft village products and One Commune One Product (OCOP) items.
Further activities are scheduled to take place across Hà Nội through November 24, with the main “Việt Nam Cultural Day in Hà Nội” programme planned for November 21–24 in the pedestrian area around Hoàn Kiếm Lake.
The initiative is expected to further strengthen public participation in cultural life, promote heritage preservation and showcase the diversity and richness of Vietnamese culture to domestic and international audiences.
