Azerbaijan, US Discuss Strategic Partnership and Armenia Normalization Process

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov held a telephone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio on October 5, during which the sides discussed the current state and prospects of Azerbaijan-U.S. strategic partnership and the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process.

The two officials highlighted the significant progress achieved in advancing the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and the United States following the historic summit held in Washington on August 8, 2025.

They emphasized the importance of the work of the relevant working groups established in priority areas identified in the Azerbaijan-U.S. Strategic Partnership Charter, noting their role in further deepening bilateral cooperation.

The sides also highlighted major achievements recorded in 2026 within the framework of the strategic partnership. They noted that agreements reached in energy, hydrocarbon exploration, development and production, investment, digital technologies, trade and other areas on the sidelines of Baku Energy Week and the 2nd Azerbaijan International Investment Forum had significantly expanded the practical dimensions of bilateral cooperation.

Bayramov briefed Rubio on Azerbaijan’s consistent efforts to advance its peace agenda, promote confidence-building and strengthen regional stability.

The two sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
