Ali Asadov Highlights Strategic Importance of Azerbaijan-Georgia Relations

Signai, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov has reaffirmed that developing relations with Georgia remains one of the key priorities of Azerbaijan’s foreign policy, highlighting the longstanding bonds of friendship, good-neighbourliness and mutual support between the two countries.
He made these remarks while addressing the 11th meeting of the Azerbaijan–Georgia Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation in Signagi on October 30.
Prime Minister Asadov noted that the Azerbaijani and Georgian peoples had coexisted in an atmosphere of friendship and good-neighbourliness for centuries, providing a strong foundation for the further development of bilateral relations.
He emphasized that the strategic partnership between the two countries had recently reached a qualitatively new level, underlining the importance of sustained high-level political dialogue in expanding bilateral cooperation.
Asadov highlighted the significance of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s state visit to Georgia in April and Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze’s visit to Azerbaijan in May on the sidelines of the 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13).
He said these high-level visits had reaffirmed the strategic nature of bilateral relations and contributed significantly to strengthening cooperation across various fields.
The Azerbaijani prime minister further underscored that Azerbaijan and Georgia had consistently supported each other within international organisations, particularly on matters concerning territorial integrity and sovereignty.
He stressed that the longstanding partnership and mutual understanding between the two neighbouring countries provided a solid basis for advancing cooperation and addressing shared regional and international priorities.
