Oman, Russia discuss cooperation in scholarships field
Muscat, The Gulf Observer: The Sultanate of Oman and the Russian Federation reviewed means of boosting cooperation in fields of scholarships abroad, as well as student and academic exchange between the two countries’ higher education institutions.
This came during the meeting between Dr. Rahma Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation with the delegation of the Parliamentary Friendship Group, headed by Mohamad Akhmadov, Deputy Chair of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy.
The two sides reviewed opportunities of research cooperation between the two countries and benefitting from the Russian experience in connecting higher education and innovation with the labour market. They also touched on utilizing research outcomes in producing products that benefit the national economy in a manner that serves Oman’s approaches in various fields, such as logistics, industry, food security, energy, water resources and the environment.
The two sides expressed their keenness to establish a joint action team and coordinating a joint event that brings together higher education establishments from Oman and Russia.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah Al Harthy, head of the Omani side in the Oman-Russia Parliamentary Friendship Group. It was also attended by the ambassador of Russia to Oman.
