Oman Advocates Diplomacy Over US Retaliatory Strikes Amid Escalating Tensions

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: In response to recent retaliatory actions taken by the United States on sites in Iraq and Syria, the Sultanate of Oman has emphasized its commitment to a diplomatic resolution, stating that military strikes may jeopardize regional safety and stability. His Excellency Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, the Foreign Minister of Oman, conveyed the country’s perspective on the escalating tensions in the region.

Expressing deep concern over the ongoing escalation without a definitive resolution to the aftermath of the Israeli war in the Gaza Strip, Minister Al Busaidi underscored the devastating impact on innocent civilians, including martyrs, wounded individuals, children, youth, and women.

The Foreign Minister highlighted Oman’s steadfast belief that the ultimate solution to the conflict lies in addressing its root causes and motivations. He called for a comprehensive approach, starting with the acknowledgment of an independent Palestinian state and the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from all Palestinian territories under their control.

In a clear stance against retaliatory military actions, Minister Al Busaidi emphasized that Oman does not perceive any benefits arising from such attacks launched by the United States on sites in Iraq and Syria. He voiced concerns that these military actions have the potential to threaten the safety and stability of the region. Additionally, he warned that such measures could complicate ongoing efforts to find diplomatic solutions to the myriad challenges confronting the region, including issues related to violence and extremism.

Oman, known for its dedication to peaceful coexistence and dialogue, calls for a renewed emphasis on diplomatic channels to foster understanding and resolve conflicts. The Sultanate remains committed to contributing to regional stability and advocating for solutions that address the root causes of conflicts, paving the way for lasting peace in the troubled region.
