Oman and Sri Lanka Forge Tourism Partnership with MoU
Muscat, The Gulf Observer: In a significant stride towards bolstering tourism ties, Oman and Sri Lanka have formalized their commitment with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Colombo.
Representing the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, Oman’s Ambassador to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and Non-resident Ambassador to the Republic of Maldives, Ahmed Ali Said al Rashidi, penned the agreement. On behalf of Sri Lanka, the MoU was signed by Harin Fernando, the Minister of Tourism.
The MoU underscores the mutual recognition of tourism’s pivotal role in advancing economic development and solidifies cooperation between the two nations in this critical sector.
Key objectives of the MoU include enhancing tourism exchanges, fostering greater participation in visitor activities, and streamlining travel procedures in alignment with respective laws and regulations. It also seeks to fortify investment in tourist facilities, encourage private sector engagement, and facilitate joint marketing and promotional initiatives.
Furthermore, the agreement underscores the importance of sharing tourism experiences, technical knowledge, and expertise, while promoting training and qualification programs to elevate the standards of the tourism industry in both countries.
The signing of this MoU marks a significant milestone in the burgeoning relationship between Oman and Sri Lanka and lays the foundation for deeper collaboration in the tourism sector, opening new avenues for economic growth and cultural exchange.
