Omani and Mauritanian Foreign Ministers Discuss Mutual Cooperation

Nouakchott, The Gulf Observer: In a diplomatic exchange held in Nouakchott, Mauritania, the Sultanate of Oman and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania engaged in discussions aimed at fortifying their mutual cooperation and enhancing collaboration to advance shared interests.
The political talks session, chaired by Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister of Oman, and Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Mauritanians Abroad of Mauritania, underscored the significance of bolstering bilateral ties across various sectors.
Key topics addressed during the session included strategies to augment business and investment partnerships, particularly within the realms of fishing, mining, energy, agriculture, logistics linking the two countries’ ports, and tourism. Both parties emphasized the importance of fostering stronger collaboration between private sector entities from Oman and Mauritania to drive economic growth and prosperity.
In addition to enhancing bilateral cooperation, the officials exchanged perspectives on regional and international issues of mutual concern. Emphasizing their commitment to promoting security, stability, and peace regionally and globally, they reiterated their support for ongoing efforts aimed at addressing common challenges.
Furthermore, the ministers expressed solidarity with efforts to end the Israeli aggressive actions against the Gaza Strip in Palestine. They called for a ceasefire agreement that ensures the facilitation of humanitarian relief aid, the release of all hostages, and the repatriation of displaced Palestinians to their homeland.
Highlighting the importance of adhering to international law and humanitarian principles, the ministers emphasized the necessity of convening an international peace conference to advance a two-state solution and bring an end to the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories.
