Chinese FM Holds Talks with Belarusian Foreign Minister in Beijing

Beijing, The Gulf Observer: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Belarusian Foreign Minister Maksim Ryzhenkov in Beijing, marking an important step in the diplomatic relations between the two countries.

During the discussions, Wang Yi extended his congratulations to Belarus on becoming a member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). He emphasized China’s readiness to leverage its rotating presidency of the SCO to collaborate with all member parties in promoting the Shanghai Spirit. Wang highlighted the need for enhanced coordination and cooperation to strengthen and make the SCO more effective.

Wang Yi expressed China’s commitment to deepening high-level exchanges, strategic synergy, and comprehensive cooperation with Belarus. He underscored the aim to advance the all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations.

In response, Foreign Minister Ryzhenkov conveyed Belarus’ willingness to work closely with China to implement the significant agreements and plans set by their respective heads of state. He emphasized expanding practical cooperation across various fields. Ryzhenkov is on an official visit to China from July 6 to 9.

The meeting also featured an extensive exchange of views on numerous bilateral and multilateral issues. Both sides agreed on the importance of supporting each other on core interests and major concerns, opposing external interference, and resisting unilateral bullying.

Furthermore, Wang and Ryzhenkov concurred on the need to enhance solidarity and cooperation among Global South countries to protect the legitimate rights and interests of developing nations.

Addressing the Ukraine crisis, Wang Yi stressed the importance of adhering to the three principles: avoiding battlefield spillover, preventing escalation of the conflict, and discouraging external parties from exacerbating the situation. He emphasized that these measures are crucial for de-escalating the crisis and creating conducive conditions for the resumption of dialogue.

The meeting signifies a continued strong partnership and mutual support between China and Belarus, with both nations committed to fostering peace, stability, and development on the global stage.
