Algeria Inaugurates TIVES Centre to Advance Virtual Education and Digital Transformation in Higher Education

Algiers, The Gulf Observer: The Government of Algeria has officially inaugurated the Technologies and Innovation Centre for Virtual Education Systems (TIVES) at the Scientific and Technological Pole of Martyr Abdelhafid Ihaddaden in Sidi Abdellah, marking a major milestone in the country’s drive toward digital transformation in higher education.

The inauguration ceremony was led by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Kamal Baddari, and attended by the Adviser to the President of the Republic in charge of Education, Higher Education, Vocational Training, and Culture. Renowned scientist and academic Professor Elias Zerhouni also participated in the event, highlighting the strategic importance of the initiative for Algeria’s academic and technological development agenda.

The newly established TIVES Centre is envisioned as a key hub for technological innovation, research, and the development of advanced virtual education systems. It aims to modernize teaching and learning methodologies, expand the use of digital technologies in education, and improve both the quality and accessibility of higher education through innovative virtual learning solutions.

According to officials, the launch of the centre reflects Algeria’s broader commitment to leveraging technology to enhance educational outcomes, foster innovation, and equip institutions and students with the skills required for the evolving demands of the digital era.

Through TIVES, the government seeks to strengthen collaboration among academia, technology experts, and policymakers in developing next-generation educational platforms and tools that support sustainable growth in the education sector.
