Vietnam resumes the Chairmanship of the ASEAN Committee in Pakistan

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: On 21 July, at the Embassy of Vietnam in Islamabad, the ACI Chairmanship handing-over Ceremony took place, Ambassador of Viet Nam NTP assumed the ACI Chairmanship from Ambassador of Thailand Chakkrid. The meeting also discussed the issues of aiming at strengthening ASEAN- Pakistan relations in all fields and sectors such as political, trade, economic, investment cooperation’s, people to people contact, awareness raising, expert to expert interactions between ASEAN and Pakistan; the awareness of the centered and leading roles of ASEAN in the Asia Pacific region.

Addressing at the ceremony, Ambassador Nguyen Tien Phong congratulated the Thai Ambassador on successfully completing his term and highly appreciated the events organized by the Thai Embassy as well as the positive contributions of the ACI member countries. Ambassador Nguyen Tien Phong affirmed his honor to accept the position of Chairmanship of ACI, saying he would do his best during his term to promote ACI’s activities in the spirit of solidarity and attachment to ASEAN cooperation with Pakistan in all fields, especially in politics, economy, trade, investment, tourism, education and training.

The Ambassadors of ACI congratulated Ambassador Nguyen Tien Phong on his new role, especially in the context of Vietnam’s increasing role and position in the region and in the international arena, with its essential contributions. concretely in preserving and creating an environment of peace, security and prosperity in ASEAN as well as between ASEAN and its strategic partners and the world.

After the handover ceremony, Ambassador Nguyen Tien Phong chaired the first meeting of ACI, proposed a number of initiatives and activities to promote cooperation in many fields between ASEAN and the host country as well as the host country with all ASEAN and its strategic partners and dialogue partners.

Representatives of ASEAN countries highly appreciated the initiatives and proposed activities of the new ACI President Nguyen Tien Phong, agreeing to effectively and practically implement the activities proposed by Ambassador Nguyen Tien Phong, in the immediate future, the celebrated the 55th founding anniversary of ASEAN (August 8) and the 28th anniversary of Vietnam’s accession to ASEAN (July 28), contributing to strengthening and deepening the awareness of ASEAN’s central and leading role in the region and in the world for the Department at the Diplomatic Corps in Islamabad.
