Ayatollah Khamenei Urges Enhanced Relations with Pakistan
Tehran, The Gulf Observer: Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has called for an enhancement of relations with neighboring Pakistan. In a meeting with visiting Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday, Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral ties.
“Relations with Pakistan matter significantly to the Islamic Republic of Iran as it is considered a brotherly country,” Ayatollah Khamenei stated. He acknowledged that relations between Iran and Pakistan have experienced fluctuations in recent years but highlighted the potential for improvement with the new government in office in Pakistan.
Ayatollah Khamenei pointed out that the recent visit by the late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to Pakistan could serve as a pivotal moment in the relationship between the two nations. He added that the current head of the Iranian Executive, Mohammad Mokhber, would continue to pursue cooperative efforts and agreements initiated during that visit.
“Friendly relations between brotherly countries do not always progress easily,” Ayatollah Khamenei noted, urging for more determined efforts to overcome obstacles and expand bilateral relations.
Prime Minister Sharif, who arrived in Tehran to attend President Raisi’s funeral, described the late president’s visit to Pakistan as very beneficial for the bilateral relationship. He expressed optimism about the future of Iran-Pakistan relations and hoped for their further expansion.
The meeting underscores the commitment of both Iran and Pakistan to deepening their ties and addressing any challenges that may arise, fostering a more robust partnership between the neighboring countries.
