Azerbaijan, Mauritius Leaders Discuss Bilateral Cooperation During WUF13 Meeting in Baku

Baku, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on Monday met with President of the Republic of Mauritius Dharambeer Gokhool in Baku on the sidelines of the 13th Session of the United Nations World Urban Forum (WUF13).
President Aliyev expressed gratitude to the Mauritian leader for attending the forum, noting that the visit provided an important opportunity to discuss the expansion of bilateral relations between the two countries. He also praised the current level of political cooperation between Azerbaijan and Mauritius.
President Gokhool, in turn, thanked the Azerbaijani side for the invitation and highlighted the significance of the visit in exploring avenues for enhanced bilateral cooperation.
During the meeting, the Mauritian President noted his visit to an “ASAN Khidmet” service center in Baku, stating that the model had left a strong impression on him. He expressed Mauritius’s interest in adopting a similar system to improve public service delivery.
In response, President Aliyev stated that Azerbaijan cooperates with several countries in sharing the ASAN service model and affirmed readiness to support Mauritius in this regard by sharing relevant experience.
The Mauritian leader also commended Azerbaijan for hosting a major international event such as WUF13 and expressed appreciation for educational scholarships provided to Mauritian students, requesting consideration for increasing such opportunities in the future.
Both sides discussed cooperation within international organizations and emphasized the importance of high-level exchanges in strengthening bilateral relations. The meeting also covered potential collaboration in areas including economy, investment, energy—particularly renewable energy—tourism and other sectors of mutual interest
