Azerbaijan Set to Chair 7th Meeting of CICA Ministerial Council

Baku, The Gulf Observer: The Seventh Meeting of the Ministerial Council (MC) of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) will be held online on December 17, 2024, as announced on the official CICA website. The meeting will mark a significant transition in leadership, as Kazakhstan’s CICA Chairmanship for the 2020-2024 term concludes, and Azerbaijan officially begins its chairmanship for the 2024-2026 period.

Foreign ministers from the 28 Member States of the pan-Asian organization will engage in extensive discussions on a wide array of critical issues, including global and regional peace and security. The meeting will focus on the evolving geopolitical landscape in Asia and around the world, reflecting on developments since the last CICA Summit in Astana in October 2022.

The Seventh CICA MC Meeting is expected to conclude with the adoption of several important documents, which have been thoroughly negotiated and finalized by consensus in the CICA Senior Officials Committee in the lead-up to the meeting. These documents are expected to set the tone for the future direction of the organization under Azerbaijan’s leadership.
