Azerbaijan, U.S. Development Finance Corporation Explore Expanded Strategic and Economic Cooperation

Baku, The Gulf Observer: Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with Ben Blak, Chief Executive Officer of the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), to discuss strengthening bilateral economic ties and advancing strategic cooperation between Azerbaijan and the United States.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, the high-level meeting focused on expanding investment opportunities in key sectors, including sustainable energy, cross-border logistics, advanced technologies, and regional transit infrastructure.

The discussions highlighted Azerbaijan’s growing importance as a strategic bridge connecting Europe and Central Asia. Both sides reviewed the country’s modern maritime ports and logistics infrastructure, which play an increasingly significant role in facilitating international trade, enhancing regional connectivity, and supporting energy diversification efforts.

The two officials also emphasized the importance of the 2025 Washington Summit, describing it as a milestone that laid the groundwork for a new phase of bilateral engagement. They expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved under the recently signed Strategic Partnership Charter, which aims to deepen cooperation in economic development, technological innovation, and regional security.

Particular attention was given to the implementation of the Trans-Regional Infrastructure and Pathway Project (TRIPP), a major connectivity initiative intended to ensure uninterrupted transit and efficient transportation links between mainland Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

The meeting concluded with a broad exchange of views on regional developments, economic cooperation, and security matters. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing strategic collaboration, promoting sustainable economic growth, and contributing to the stability and resilience of regional and global supply chains.
