Azerbaijan’s State Flag Hoisted in New York to Mark Victory Day and State Flag Day

New York City, The Gulf Observer: The State Flag of Azerbaijan was hoisted in New York City, USA, to commemorate November 8 – Victory Day, marking the fifth anniversary of Azerbaijan’s triumph in the Patriotic War, and November 9 – State Flag Day, the State Committee on Work with Diaspora reported.
The tricolor flag was ceremonially raised in Bowling Green Park on Wall Street, a historic and symbolic site in New York’s financial district, renowned as the city’s first official park and one of its most visited flag plazas.
The event was organized by the Azerbaijan New York Association and drew participation from Azerbaijani community members, local residents, and visitors.
Speakers at the ceremony underscored the historical and moral significance of Victory Day, emphasizing the pride and unity of the Azerbaijani nation during the 44-day Patriotic War. They highlighted that under the leadership of Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief President Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani Army, alongside the country’s martyrs and veterans, achieved a historic victory that ended nearly 30 years of longing. Their courage and devotion to the Motherland, it was noted, will forever be remembered with honor.
Following the speeches, the Azerbaijani National Anthem was played as the flag was raised high, symbolizing national pride and unity.
The ceremony attracted considerable interest from local residents and tourists, who took photos in front of the Azerbaijani flag. Members of the Azerbaijani community also engaged with attendees, sharing information about the country’s history and achievements.
The State Flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan will continue to fly over Bowling Green for ten days, serving as a symbol of national pride and a reminder of Azerbaijan’s enduring spirit and victory.
