Hanoi, The Gulf Observer: Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính has urged the focused development and diversification of services and products in traditional medicine, emphasizing improved quality in healthcare-related services to meet the demands of tourism.

The directive, outlined in Decision No 1289/QĐ-TTg, provides a comprehensive framework for advancing Vietnam’s traditional medicine sector and the Vietnam Oriental Medicine Association.

Key Highlights of the Development Plan

The decision prioritizes:

  1. Diversification and Quality Enhancement: Developing a wide range of traditional medicine services and products while enhancing their quality for integration with healthcare and tourism sectors.
  2. Comprehensive Databases: Establishing and improving databases on medicinal materials and traditional medicines, integrated with national and specialized databases. An additional information database will focus on traditional medicine services and products tailored for tourists, facilitating management, administration, and linking with the national tourism database.
  3. International Trade and Personnel Development: Research and proposals will address policies to promote the trade and export of traditional medicine products. Efforts will also be made to develop high-quality personnel, treatment methods, and services for the global market.

International Integration and Collaboration

The Prime Minister emphasized proactive international integration and increased international cooperation efficiency. Key measures include:

  • Building and promoting the image and brand of Vietnam’s traditional medicine globally.
  • Expanding and diversifying forms of collaboration with international organizations, regional groups, and countries with advanced traditional medicine sectors.
  • Strengthening partnerships to attract investment and broaden knowledge exchange.
