Commander Turkish Land Forces Meets Pakistan Air Chief to Enhance Bilateral Defence Cooperation

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: General Matin Tokel, Commander of the Turkish Land Forces, called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force (PAF), at Air Headquarters in Islamabad on Thursday, where both sides discussed measures to further strengthen bilateral defence cooperation and expand collaboration across areas of mutual interest.
During the meeting, the Chief of the Air Staff highlighted the deep-rooted historical, cultural and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Türkiye, founded on enduring bonds of Islamic brotherhood, mutual trust and shared strategic interests. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further enhancing its longstanding defence partnership with Türkiye through increased cooperation in training, defence collaboration and technological development.
Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu emphasized the importance of closer military-to-military engagement in view of the evolving regional security environment, stressing the need for sustained coordination and cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries. He also shared insights into the Pakistan Air Force’s indigenization initiatives, including progress achieved under the National Aerospace Science and Technology Park (NASTP), as well as advancements in unmanned systems, artificial intelligence and next-generation defence technologies.
General Matin Tokel commended the professionalism, operational excellence and modernization efforts of the Pakistan Air Force under its current leadership. He praised the visionary leadership of Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu and acknowledged his contributions toward transforming the PAF into a modern, capable and self-reliant force.
The Turkish commander expressed keen interest in further expanding bilateral engagement and strengthening defence ties, particularly in the fields of training, capacity building and emerging technologies. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing interoperability through joint training initiatives, exchange programmes and coordinated engagements. They also agreed to explore new avenues of cooperation aimed at strengthening operational preparedness and advancing a resilient long-term strategic partnership.
The meeting underscored the depth and vitality of the enduring military partnership between Pakistan and Türkiye and reflected the shared resolve of both brotherly nations to further consolidate strategic ties in support of regional peace, security and stability.
