Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar Departs for Mashhad to Attend ECO Ministerial Meeting

Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has embarked on a two-day official visit to Mashhad, Iran, to participate in the 28th Meeting of the Council of Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).

During the ministerial meeting, DPM Dar is set to reaffirm Pakistan’s commitment to the ECO Charter and advocate for enhanced regional connectivity. His address will focus on the development of road and rail networks, visa liberalization, and the simplification of border procedures to promote sustainable growth and leverage the geo-economic potential of the ECO region.

DPM Dar will also voice Pakistan’s concerns regarding ongoing hostilities in the Middle East, emphasizing the need to safeguard regional peace and security.

As a key agenda item, the deputy prime minister will sign the Charter for the ECO Clean Energy Center, reinforcing Pakistan’s commitment to environmental sustainability and clean energy initiatives in the region.

Additionally, DPM Dar will hold bilateral meetings with ministers and dignitaries from participating countries on the sidelines of the summit, aiming to strengthen regional partnerships and promote mutual cooperation within the ECO framework.

The Economic Cooperation Organization, a regional intergovernmental organization founded in 1985, plays a vital role in fostering economic development, trade, and connectivity among its member states, which include Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, and several Central Asian countries.
