Dubai Tops Middle East and Africa in Global City Index 2024, Ranks Fifth Globally

Dubai, The Gulf Observer: Dubai has been ranked as the top city in the Middle East and Africa in the 2024 ‘Global City Index’ report by Brand Finance, maintaining its leadership position in the region for the second consecutive year. The city also rose to fifth place globally, surpassing major cities like Singapore, Los Angeles, and Sydney, and securing a score of 86 out of 100.

In his remarks on the city’s remarkable achievement, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE, attributed Dubai’s success to the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai. He highlighted that Dubai’s advancement aligns with the strategic goals outlined in the Dubai Plan 2030 and its ambitious economic and social agendas for the coming decade.

Sheikh Hamdan expressed his gratitude to all teams involved in the city’s development, noting that their collective efforts had significantly contributed to Dubai’s continued success and recognition on the global stage. He emphasized that these achievements motivate Dubai to continue evolving and implementing innovative solutions for growth and excellence.

“This recognition as the top city in the Middle East and North Africa, along with Dubai’s rise into the global top five, reflects the hard work and dedication of everyone involved in shaping the future of Dubai. We celebrate this as a testament to our strategic direction and commitment to becoming the leading global hub for investment, education, and innovation,” said Sheikh Hamdan.

Dubai’s impressive rise in the Global City Index includes climbing four positions this year, now ranked as the world’s fifth-best city brand. The city achieved first place globally for Reputation, improving significantly from seventh in 2023, and saw substantial gains in factors such as local work opportunities and remote work, where it jumped from 24th to 4th place.

The city was also recognized as the second-best city of global significance, surpassing London, and was ranked second globally for its strong and stable economy, which benefits from its strategic role as a key hub for international trade and world-class logistics infrastructure. Dubai’s business-friendly environment, supported by favorable corporate taxation and its position as the leading city for investment consideration, contributed to its top ranking for future growth potential.

Dubai’s educational landscape also stood out, with the city excelling in various educational indices, including rankings for private and public schools and strong international connectivity. Additionally, the city continues to lead in tourism, retirement, and overall livability, solidifying its reputation as a top destination for residents, businesses, and investors alike.

The latest report underscores Dubai’s status as a global leader in fostering innovation, economic growth, and a high quality of life, reinforcing its position as one of the most desired cities worldwide.
