Emirates Group Celebrates Emirati Women’s Contributions to Aviation and Leadership
Dubai, The Gulf Observer: The Emirates Group has honored the vital contributions of Emirati women in advancing excellence across the aviation and travel sectors in the UAE. In a press release issued today, the Group highlighted the significant strides Emirati women are making in various business functions, forging their career paths and establishing a strong talent pipeline for the future of aviation.
Emirati women now make up approximately 38 percent of the Group’s Emirati workforce, a figure that saw a record increase in the last financial year with the highest number of female Emiratis joining the organization. This growth underscores the Emirates Group’s ongoing commitment to integrating Emirati women into the UAE’s expanding aviation sector, where they are equipped with the necessary skills, competencies, and expertise to excel and reach their full potential.
This year, the Group achieved another significant milestone with a 20 percent growth in the number of Emirati women appointed to leadership roles compared to the previous year. Currently, over 200 Emirati women hold leadership positions within the organization, contributing to the growth and success of various business functions.
In March 2024, the Emirates Group announced the promotion of five Emirati female leaders to senior executive roles in key Human Resources and Commercial Support departments. The Group continues to empower Emirati women through industry-leading resources, enabling them to enhance their leadership skills and expand their career prospects.
For more than two decades, the Emirates Group has offered mentorship and training programs tailored to the professional growth and career mobility of Emirati female professionals. These programs include prestigious leadership opportunities such as the Rolls-Royce and Airbus Leadership Programmes and the GE Aviation Programme. Emirati women in leadership positions also have access to the INSEAD Women Leaders Programme, which empowers them to lead with impact and drive lasting professional change.
In the past 12 months, over 70 Emirati women have completed one or more of these leadership programs. Last year, the Emirates Group also sponsored three Emirati female employees to pursue postgraduate education at top-ranking universities worldwide.
The Emirates Group has also formed strategic partnerships with UAE-based and international organizations, including Nafis, Microsoft, Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), and PwC Academy, to deliver tailored training and development programs for its Emirati workforce. These initiatives provide Emirati women with additional tools and resources to advance their careers and make significant contributions to the workforce.
As a launch partner of Aurora50’s women’s networking initiative, NOORA, and a signatory of the UAE Gender Balance Council’s pledge, the Emirates Group continues to reinforce its commitment to female representation and advancement within the organization.
