Anwar Ibrahim: Personal Awareness and Moral Responsibility Key to Building a Progressive Nation

Putrajaya, The Gulf Observer: Individual awareness, understanding of social issues, moral values, and a sense of civic responsibility are fundamental to building a progressive society and a prosperous nation, said Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim during the Madani Scholars Forum (Forum Ilmuan Madani – FIM) Series 5 held last night.
Anwar emphasized that true national transformation must begin at the personal level, asserting that individuals must initiate change within themselves before it can positively influence the broader society.
“In fostering social awareness, we must also consider global developments, particularly the rapid advancement of technology such as artificial intelligence (AI), which is reshaping societal progress and lifestyles,” Anwar stated.
He noted that although technological progress holds great promise, it also requires proper oversight and ethical adaptation to ensure its benefits are shared fairly and responsibly.
To that end, Anwar proposed the establishment of a Faculty of Artificial Intelligence, describing it as a strategic and timely move that aligns with the current pace of global change. He called on all stakeholders to work together in preparing Malaysia to meet future challenges head-on.
In concluding his address, Anwar shared a powerful message: “Transformation and progress are the keys if we aspire to build a truly advanced nation.”
The forum provided a platform for intellectual discourse on strengthening national development through the lenses of education, ethics, and technology, in line with the values of Malaysia Madani.
