Hamdan bin Zayed Reviews Sports Development Plans in Al Dhafra Region

Abu Dhabi, The Gulf Observer: Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, reviewed ongoing and future sports development plans during a meeting with a delegation from the Abu Dhabi Sports Council led by its Secretary-General, Aref Hamad Al Awani, at Al Nakheel Palace.

During the meeting, Sheikh Hamdan was briefed on the latest developments in the sports sector in Al Dhafra and plans aimed at increasing sports participation, expanding community engagement and promoting healthy lifestyles through a wide range of sporting programmes and activities.

The discussions also covered key sports projects currently under implementation, as well as future initiatives to develop sports facilities and infrastructure, strengthen community programmes and create an integrated sports environment that enhances physical activity and quality of life for residents.

Sheikh Hamdan emphasized that sports development is a fundamental pillar of the UAE’s comprehensive development vision, highlighting its positive impact on public health, social cohesion and community well-being. He stressed the importance of continuing to invest in sports initiatives that encourage broader participation and help prepare future generations to contribute to national development.

The presentation also reviewed sporting events and championships hosted in Al Dhafra, along with programmes targeting youth, senior citizens and people of determination, as well as initiatives focused on identifying and nurturing sports talent.

Officials noted that the sports initiatives support the UAE’s Year of Community objectives by encouraging family participation, promoting active lifestyles and strengthening community values across the region.
