Higher Education Key

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesian Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Satryo Soemantri Brodjonegoro has stressed that higher education must contribute positively to national development. Speaking on Friday, the minister emphasized the need for higher education policies to align with the government’s Asta Cita (Eight Missions) to address current and future challenges.

“We want to ensure that our ministry makes higher education an agent of economic development, providing a positive impact on society in the future,” Brodjonegoro stated.

He further highlighted the ministry’s commitment to optimizing science and technology through improved policies, particularly focusing on the second mission of Asta Cita, which strengthens defense and security systems while fostering national independence.

The ministry is also addressing the fourth mission, which focuses on developing human resources, science, technology, and education, and the fifth mission, which emphasizes downstreaming and industrialization.

In line with the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision, the ministry plays a critical role in enhancing agricultural productivity through the establishment of food barns at village, regional, and national levels. Additionally, superior integrated schools are being set up in provinces, and renovations are underway for schools in need.

Deputy Minister Fauzan added that sustainability is a key component of the ministry’s programs. He noted that the ministry is adjusting its organizational structure, staff, and resources to improve work effectiveness.

“Community benefits supporting Asta Cita are a key priority for universities,” Fauzan remarked.
