Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: President Prabowo Subianto has commended the National Alms Agency (Baznas) for its globally recognized humanitarian efforts, particularly in Palestine and the Middle East.

Speaking at the State Palace in Jakarta on Thursday, President Prabowo highlighted Baznas’ commitment to providing aid in crisis-hit regions and expressed his gratitude for its impactful work.

“I appreciate Baznas’ hard work, which is also recognized abroad in Palestine and the Middle East. Their work is highly respected, and Baznas is always present in difficult places. Thank you, Baznas,” he stated.

He further emphasized the importance of transparent, effective, and targeted alms management, aligning with the government’s principles of clean and orderly administration.

Meanwhile, Baznas Chairperson Noor Achmad expressed his gratitude for the president’s continued support. He noted that during the 2024 D8 Summit in Cairo, Egypt, Baznas launched the humanitarian aid program Membasuh Luka Palestina (“Washing the Wounds of Palestine”), which has collected Rp452 billion (US$26 million) in donations.

“The funds are specifically allocated for Palestine, as donors contributed with this cause in mind, further encouraged by President Prabowo’s speech in Egypt,” Achmad explained.

Baznas has received 91 national and international awards in recognition of its work. The agency remains committed to aligning its efforts with the expectations of both the Indonesian and global communities.

During the event, a symbolic handover of several Baznas assistance programs took place, including the Z Coffee program for people with disabilities, the Human Resources internship program abroad, the Z Mart program, the Z Auto program, and the Baznas Decent Housing program.
