Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: President Prabowo Subianto, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and members of the Red and White Cabinet fulfilled their zakat (alms) obligations through the National Alms Agency (Baznas) at the State Palace on Thursday.

During the solemn occasion, President Prabowo recited the zakat intention statement while handing over his alms, accompanied by Baznas Chairperson Noor Achmad. Vice President Gibran followed, along with several ministers and officials who took turns contributing their alms.

In his address, President Prabowo underscored the importance of alms-giving in supporting those in need. “Many of our fellow citizens struggle to meet their basic needs. Let us extend a helping hand to them through alms and charity. By giving, we deepen our gratitude and appreciation for the blessings bestowed upon us,” he stated.

He emphasized that alms play a vital role in alleviating hardships, fostering social justice, and reducing economic disparities. “Alms reflect the spirit of mutual cooperation and serve as a means to share with others, ensuring equitable welfare for all,” he added.

The President also highlighted the vast potential for zakat collection in Indonesia, estimated at Rp327 trillion, with receipts reaching Rp41 trillion so far this year. He expressed hope that the act of giving would enrich worship during Ramadan and strengthen devotion to God.

“May the alms we give contribute to our worship during this holy month and enhance our piety,” Prabowo concluded.

The event reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fostering social responsibility and promoting economic inclusivity through charitable giving.
