Karachi, The Gulf Observer: In a significant step towards strengthening bilateral trade and economic cooperation, His Excellency Alisher Tukhtaev met with Zubair Motiwala, Chairman of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), and his team in Karachi. The discussions centered on enhancing trade volumes and fostering economic collaboration between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.

Key topics of discussion included:

  • Diversifying export and import product categories.
  • Organizing joint trade and industrial exhibitions.
  • Establishing trade houses to promote products from both nations.
  • Developing an online platform to provide detailed information on goods and services.

Zubair Motiwala praised the success of the “Made in Pakistan” exhibition held in Tashkent in June 2024 and extended gratitude to the Uzbek authorities for their support. He highlighted that such events create fresh opportunities for businesses and contribute to expanding bilateral trade.

New Agreements

  • Participation in international exhibitions and fairs in both countries during 2025-2026.
  • Invitation for Uzbek entrepreneurs to attend the “FoodAg Manufacturing Exhibition” in February and the “4th Engineering and Healthcare Show” in April in Lahore.
  • Launch of direct flights between Tashkent and Karachi.

Discussions also included measures to develop trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian ties between Karachi and various regions of Uzbekistan. TDAP representatives proposed launching direct flights on the Tashkent-Karachi route and simplifying mutual banking transactions, aiming to bolster trade volumes and create new opportunities for entrepreneurs and investors.
