Indonesia and Saudi Arabia Strengthen Collaboration for Hajj Preparations

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesia’s Deputy Head of the Hajj Organizing Agency (BPH), Dahnil Simanjuntak, and Deputy for International Cooperation at Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, Hassan bin Yahya Al Manakhrah, held discussions on Wednesday (December 25) in Saudi Arabia to review preparations for the Hajj pilgrimage.

According to a statement from BPH, Simanjuntak informed Al Manakhrah that Indonesia plans to delegate the full implementation of Hajj services for Indonesian pilgrims to the Hajj Organizing Agency beginning in 2026. However, for the upcoming Hajj season, the Ministry of Religious Affairs will continue its role as the primary operator of the pilgrimage.

Simanjuntak emphasized the importance of informing Saudi authorities about this transition, noting the significant impact on the bilateral cooperation between the two nations. He also stressed the need for efficient, safe, and comfortable arrangements for the pilgrims.

“Operational efficiency, the safety of pilgrims, and comfort in performing rituals are our key priorities,” Simanjuntak stated.

In response, Al Manakhrah reiterated Saudi Arabia’s commitment to ensuring a successful Hajj pilgrimage for Indonesian Muslims, highlighting the provision of excellent services for pilgrims. He urged Indonesia to expedite preparations in areas such as accommodation, transportation, hotels, and other services to ensure a seamless experience for the pilgrims.

The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to intensifying collaboration to ensure that Indonesian pilgrims have a safe and comfortable Hajj journey.
