Indonesia’s Vice President Gibran Urges Youth to Embrace AI for Future Development

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Indonesia’s Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has called on young people to adapt to artificial intelligence (AI) as the country seeks to remain competitive in the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
Speaking at the Artificial Intelligence: Shaping Indonesia’s Future event in Jakarta on Thursday, Gibran highlighted the growing global trend of incorporating AI education into formal curricula, stressing that Indonesia must not lag behind.
“In other countries, their governments have already started doing this. Their young people are encouraged to learn AI,” he said.
Gibran reassured the public that AI is not a threat to humanity but a tool that complements human capabilities. “AI will not replace humans. No matter what, the human touch is still needed,” he emphasized.
He also advocated for a broader application of AI beyond creative fields such as photography, video production, and animation, urging its integration into public sectors, including government administration, tax payments, and disaster mitigation.
“In the future, we want AI to improve public services, tax payments, and traffic management. Hence, congestion at toll exits and other areas can be resolved with AI,” Gibran stated.
Following the event, the Vice President toured an exhibition featuring AI-based innovations, reinforcing the government’s commitment to advancing AI adoption across various industries.
