Iranian Interior Minister Meets COAS Asim Munir, Reaffirms Commitment to Regional Security Cooperation
Rawalpindi, The Gulf Observer: Interior Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Eskandar Momeni, called on Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, at the General Headquarters (GHQ) on Tuesday to discuss matters of mutual interest, regional security, and bilateral cooperation.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the two sides held detailed discussions on regional and bilateral security issues, with particular emphasis on enhancing effective border management and strengthening cooperation to address shared security challenges.
During the meeting, the Iranian interior minister appreciated Pakistan’s consistent efforts and pivotal diplomatic role in promoting regional stability. He commended Islamabad’s initiatives to ease regional tensions, encourage de-escalation, and serve as a key contributor to peace and security in the region.
The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to maintaining close coordination and strengthening cooperative mechanisms aimed at safeguarding regional security, enhancing border management, and promoting mutual peace, stability, and prosperity.
