Jordan launches $39m US-funded water infrastructure enhancement project
Amman, The Gulf Observer: Jordan’s Ministry of Water and Irrigation, in partnership with the US Agency for International Development, launched on Tuesday a $39 million water infrastructure enhancement project.
The US-funded project aims to ensure the efficient use of water resources in Jordan, the Jordan News Agency reported.
Mohammad Najjar, the minister of water and irrigation, said the initiative was in line with efforts to achieve the objectives of the National Water Strategy 2023-2040.
Najjar added that the collaboration showed the commitment of the US to support Jordan in achieving water security.
USAID Deputy Director Christopher Steele said the project sought to modernize water and sanitation facilities, stimulate skill development across varied regions, improve project execution, and sustainably operate advanced systems.
