Jordan’s King Abdullah II Meets US Congressional Delegation, Stresses Regional De-escalation
Amman, The Gulf Observer: His Majesty King Abdullah II of Jordan on Tuesday received a delegation of United States Congressional staff at Al Husseiniya Palace, with Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II also in attendance, according to a statement from the Royal Hashemite Court.
The meeting focused on the strategic partnership between Jordan and the United States and ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation across various areas, in addition to developments in the region.
King Abdullah II emphasised the urgent need to achieve comprehensive regional de-escalation and ensure the security and stability of Arab states.
The King also warned of the risks posed by Israel’s unilateral measures against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, including land annexation and the expansion of settlements. He underscored the need to halt Israeli violations against Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
The meeting was attended by Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Director of the Office of His Majesty Alaa Batayneh, Jordan’s Ambassador to the United States Dina Kawar, and United States Ambassador to Jordan James Holtsnider.
The discussions reaffirmed Jordan’s continued emphasis on regional stability, the protection of Palestinian rights and the preservation of the religious and historical status of Jerusalem’s holy sites.
