Katara to hold Arabic calligraphy workshop

Doha, The Gulf Observer: The Cultural Village Foundation, Katara, has revealed its plans to host an upcoming Arabic calligraphy workshop, catering to enthusiasts and individuals interested in learning the art form.

The workshop, titled “Basics of Arabic Calligraphy in Nashk and Thuluth Fonts,” is scheduled to commence next week and will be held every Saturday, from July 15 to September 2.

Participants can attend the workshop from 5pm to 7.30pm at Katara Art Studios Building 19.

The workshop will be led by the esteemed calligrapher, Obaida Albanki, whose expertise in Arabic calligraphy has garnered him international recognition. Notably, Albanki was bestowed with the honour of writing the ‘Mushaf Qatar,’ a significant cultural achievement for both the government and people of Qatar. Distinguished by its distinct script, the Mushaf Qatar stands apart from other versions of the Quran.

Having previously conducted similar workshops at Katara and the Qatar National Library, Albanki brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to this upcoming event.

Aspiring participants aged 17 and above can now secure their tickets for QR500 through the official Katara website, katara.net.
