Beijing, The Gulf Observer: President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev took part in the opening ceremony of the 3rd Belt and Road Forum in China, according to the reports of Akorda press service.

The second day of President Tokayev’s official visit saw him take the floor at the unveiling ceremony of the high-level forum.

The Head of State extended gratitude to Chinese President Xi Jinping for traditionally warm welcome and flawless organization of the forum.

In his speech at the unveiling ceremony, the Kazakh leader commended China’s key role in ensuring global security, calling it a locomotive of economic and technological development.

President Tokayev noted that in the present geopolitical circumstances the One Belt, One Road Initiative has become a relevant international project and a large cooperation platform. The project embodies China’s economic power and it is quite symbolic that the ambitious initiative was announced by Xi Jinping 10 years ago in Kazakhstan.

Ten years later, according to the Head of State, the initiative has become a power to reckon with, a grandiose project of global scale.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev went on to add that the One Belt, One Road Initiative has turned into an effective platform for unprecedented international cooperation.

Thanks to investments of the participating states over 150 counties of Asia, Europe and Africa are connected by an extensive network of railroads, highways and sea routes. Amid the turbulent times for global economy the project enables its participating countries to give an effective response to present-day challenges, the Kazakh leader said.
