Maryam Nawaz Sharif Praises Baku’s Symbolism and Leadership at WUF13

Baku, The Gulf Obsever: The organization of the 13th World Urban Forum has been described as highly symbolic, reflecting Baku’s growing global role in urban development and connectivity.
Speaking at the Leaders’ Statements session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13), Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that Baku represents a unique blend of modern urban infrastructure and historical heritage. She noted that while the city reflects advanced urban development and global connectivity, its historic Old City stands as a symbol of intercultural relations among civilizations.
Expressing gratitude to Ilham Aliyev for the high-level organization of the forum and his hospitality, she said it was “truly inspiring” to listen to his address. She praised his vision on sustainable development and sustainable cities, adding that his leadership is transforming Azerbaijan into a dynamic and globally connected hub.
She further remarked that Baku stands as a living example of sustainability, transformation, and evolution, highlighting the city’s role as a model for modern urban development.
