Mehriban Aliyeva Meets with Princess Lalla Hasnaa of Morocco

Baku, The Gulf Observer: First Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva and her daughter, Vice-President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva, met with Princess Lalla Hasnaa of the Kingdom of Morocco on Sunday during the latter’s official visit to Azerbaijan.
In a cordial exchange, both sides expressed satisfaction with the ongoing development of Azerbaijan-Morocco relations across various fields, underscoring the deep-rooted friendship and cooperation between the two countries, grounded in shared historical, cultural, and religious values.
The meeting highlighted effective collaboration between Azerbaijan and Morocco within international organizations, particularly the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Emphasis was placed on the growing potential for expanded cooperation in the humanitarian and cultural spheres.
The participants fondly recalled the successful hosting of the Culture Days of Azerbaijan in Morocco and the Culture Days of Morocco in Azerbaijan, recognizing the importance of such initiatives in fostering mutual understanding and showcasing the rich cultural heritage of both nations.
Discussions also covered joint activities with the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), headquartered in Morocco. The recent opening of ICESCO’s regional office in Baku was welcomed as a significant step toward deepening cooperation in education, science, and culture, while reaffirming Azerbaijan’s commitment to Islamic solidarity and collaboration among Muslim nations.
Princess Lalla Hasnaa and Leyla Aliyeva also reviewed earlier meetings held in Morocco, particularly those focusing on the Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s social and child welfare initiatives.
Princess Lalla Hasnaa’s visit was described as a meaningful opportunity to enhance understanding of Azerbaijan’s culture and achievements and to further consolidate the close and friendly ties between Azerbaijan and Morocco.
