Morocco Sets Sights on 2 Million Belgian Tourists by 2030

Rabat, The Gulf Observer : Morocco is targeting 2 million tourist arrivals from Belgium annually by 2030 as the Moroccan National Tourism Office (ONMT) intensifies efforts to strengthen the country’s position in the Belgian tourism market.
As part of these efforts, the ONMT is hosting Selectair, Belgium’s largest network of independent travel agencies, in Tamuda Bay from September 30 to October 4. The network’s annual congress has brought together nearly 90 travel agencies, along with its board members and major tourism industry partners, providing Belgian professionals with an opportunity to explore Morocco’s tourism offerings.
Selectair comprises 88 independent agencies and around 320 employees, primarily based in Flanders. The network generated nearly €310 million (MAD 3.41 billion) in revenue in 2025.
The congress includes participation from major industry partners, including TUI Belgium, Brussels Airport, MSC Cruises, RIU Hotels, Amadeus and Allianz Partners, as well as the Vereniging Vlaamse Reisbureaus (VVR), which represents Flemish travel agencies.
The ONMT selected Tamuda Bay to showcase northern Morocco and encourage Belgian travel professionals to diversify the Moroccan destinations they offer to their clients. The programme features Morocco’s beach and cultural tourism, luxury travel, tailor-made journeys and discovery experiences.
Belgium has emerged as an increasingly important source market for Morocco. The country welcomed approximately 1.2 million Belgian tourists in 2025, marking a 10 percent increase compared with 2024. By the end of July 2026, more than 834,000 Belgian tourist arrivals had been recorded, representing an 8 percent increase over the corresponding period in 2025.
Morocco is targeting 1.4 million Belgian tourist arrivals in 2026, with the longer-term objective of reaching 2 million annual arrivals from Belgium by 2030.
The Selectair congress is also expected to contribute to Morocco’s tourism promotion efforts in Belgium. The network plans to launch a digital and media campaign promoting Morocco through editorial content, social media, newsletters and digital advertising.
Through these initiatives, the ONMT aims to strengthen Morocco’s presence among Belgian travel distributors and expand the range of Moroccan destinations promoted to Belgian travellers.
