Myanmar Marks 75th Anniversary of Defence Industries Corps with Grand Ceremony in Nay Pyi Taw

Nay Pyi Taw, The Gulf Observer: A ceremony commemorating the 75th Anniversary (Diamond Jubilee) of Myanmar’s Defence Industries Corps was held yesterday at the local military headquarters in the Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, attended by Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Chairman of the State Administration Council and Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services.

The event officially opened with General Kyaw Swa Lin, Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air), Lt-Gen Teza Kyaw of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), and Lt-Gen Kan Myint Than, Chief of Defence Industries, cutting the ceremonial ribbon. Senior General Min Aung Hlaing later unveiled the signboard commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the Defence Industries Corps.

Formed on 26 April 1950, the Defence Industries Corps has played a pivotal role in arming and supporting the Tatmadaw throughout successive eras. Operating under the motto “Power to the Forces,” the corps has been responsible for the domestic production of arms and military equipment critical to Myanmar’s defence capabilities.

In recognition of outstanding contributions, 513 officers, ranks, and civilian staff serving in the Defence Industries Corps were honoured with State and Tatmadaw-level honorary titles and certificates.

Addressing the attendees, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing praised the Corps’ longstanding service to the nation and emphasized the need for continuous improvement in the production of high-quality military equipment, assessed through battlefield effectiveness. He called on the Corps members to uphold their traditions of loyalty and duty in safeguarding Myanmar’s independence and sovereignty.

The Chief of Defence Industries presented a commemorative gift to the Senior General, who in return provided cash awards to mark the Diamond Jubilee. The Senior General also visited an exhibition showcasing the Corps’ historical achievements and technological advancements.

The ceremony was attended by several top military officials, including Vice-Senior General Soe Win, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and Commander-in-Chief (Army), Admiral Htein Win, Commander-in-Chief (Navy), and General Tun Aung, Commander-in-Chief (Air), along with senior Tatmadaw officers and retired Defence Industries Corps members.
