Myanmar’s Min Aung Hlaing Pays Homage to Centenarian Sayadaw in Kengtung

Kengtung, The Gulf Observer: Chairman of the State Administration Council and Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by his wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, visited Kengyin Monastery in Kengtung, Shan State (East) yesterday to pay homage to the Presiding Patron, Aggamaha Saddhammajotikadhaja Bhaddanta Khemacara, in honour of the Sayadaw’s 100th birthday.

The Senior General, along with the Chief Minister of Shan State, the Commander of Triangle Region Command, and other officials, supplicated on religious matters and the Sayadaw’s health condition, and offered cash donations for nine requisites and other offerings. The Sayadaw reciprocated with Dhamma gifts to commemorate his centenary.

Later in the day, the Senior General conducted an inspection of Nawngton Lake conservation efforts, observing the lake’s condition and surroundings. He also toured the area by car, viewing local residents engaging in sports and physical activities along the lake’s bund, reflecting ongoing efforts to promote public health and environmental preservation in Kengtung.

The visit highlighted both the government’s respect for religious heritage and its continued focus on local development and community well-being.
