Oman, European Union Stress Diplomacy and Regional Stability in High-Level Telephone Call

Muscat, The Gulf Observer: Oman’s Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, received a telephone call from Kaja Kallas, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, to discuss the latest regional developments and their implications for security and stability.
During the conversation, the two officials exchanged views on the rapidly evolving situation in the region and the challenges it poses to regional security, stability, and maritime navigation. They reviewed ongoing developments and emphasized the need for coordinated international efforts to address emerging risks and prevent further escalation.
Both sides underscored the importance of sustaining diplomatic engagement to de-escalate tensions, contain the current crisis, and avert a broader confrontation that could have far-reaching consequences for countries across the region as well as for international peace and security.
The discussions also reaffirmed that diplomacy remains the most effective means of overcoming the crisis and creating conditions conducive to the safe and uninterrupted resumption of maritime navigation. Particular emphasis was placed on safeguarding strategic maritime routes and ensuring the security of international shipping, recognizing their critical importance to global trade and economic stability.
