Oman, UK Foreign Ministers Review Strategic Ties, Regional Security in Manila
Manila, The Gulf Observer: Oman’s Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, held talks with the United Kingdom’s Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, Ed Miliband, on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting commemorating the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
During the meeting, the two ministers reviewed ways to further strengthen the longstanding strategic partnership between the Sultanate of Oman and the United Kingdom, building on the broad cooperation already established across areas of mutual priority.
The discussions also focused on the ongoing conflict in the region, with both sides exchanging views on diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a cessation of hostilities and facilitating the resumption of negotiations to promote regional stability.
In addition, the ministers discussed coordination to ensure the safety and freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with international law, underscoring the importance of maintaining secure maritime routes for global trade and regional security.
The meeting was attended by Oman’s Ambassador to the Republic of the Philippines, Nasser Almanwari, along with senior officials from both Oman and the United Kingdom.
