Palestinian Student Expresses Gratitude for Indonesia's Scholarship Program

Jakarta, The Gulf Observer: Jana Abu Salha, a Palestinian student at Indonesia Defense University, expressed her heartfelt thanks to the Indonesian people and government, especially President Prabowo Subianto, for awarding scholarships to her and 22 other Palestinian students.

“On behalf of the Palestinian nation, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the Indonesian people and government, especially to President Prabowo Subianto. Once again, thank you very much,” Salha said in a statement.

In a release from the president’s media team in Jakarta on Wednesday, Salha praised Indonesia’s unwavering support for Palestine, highlighting the country’s political, humanitarian, and educational contributions. She particularly expressed gratitude for the scholarship program, which enables Palestinian students to pursue their studies at the Indonesia Defense University free of charge.

“The kind of support I am most grateful for is the scholarship program for Palestinian students, including myself. These scholarships have enabled us to pursue our studies in Indonesia free of charge,” Salha added.

The Palestinian medical student also emphasized the invaluable lessons learned at Indonesia’s Defense University, particularly regarding the importance of dedication and discipline.

“This initiative proves Indonesia’s sincere support for us, offering a ray of hope to Palestinian youth who face significant barriers to education and basic human rights,” Salha remarked.

The scholarship program, launched by President Prabowo during his tenure as defense minister, has played a pivotal role in strengthening Indonesia’s ties with Palestine. Since its inception in 2023, the program has offered fully funded education to Palestinian students in various fields, including military medicine, military pharmacy, civil engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and information security.

This initiative not only fosters educational opportunities for Palestinians but also deepens the longstanding bond between Indonesia and Palestine.
