Manila, The Gulf Observer: President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. marked Easter Sunday with a powerful message urging Filipinos to translate their faith into tangible acts of compassion, solidarity, and inclusive governance amid the country’s ongoing challenges.

In his official Easter message, President Marcos highlighted the Resurrection of Jesus Christ as more than a symbol of hope, describing it as a mandate to uplift others, particularly those “buried in debt, in hunger, and in silence.”

“The triumph of Easter Sunday is not just a celebration filled with hope and aspiration for a better tomorrow, but also a testament to the victory of life over death, hope over despair, and light over darkness,” Marcos said.

He stressed that Easter is not the end of suffering but the beginning of renewal — a time to rise not only in belief but through concrete deeds and public service.

“The risen Christ does not rise alone, He invites us to rise with Him — through policies that heal, through laws that protect, and through governance that leaves no one behind,” he added.

With around 80% of the population identifying as Roman Catholic, Easter is deeply ingrained in the country’s cultural and spiritual life. Marcos called on Filipinos to channel this faith into nation-building and civic engagement, encouraging them to “make a difference” by turning prayer into action.

“We must rise — not merely in belief, but in deeds, and not only in prayer, but in action,” he said. “The stone has been rolled away. We are now exposed not just to boundless possibilities, but also to the knowledge that we, too, can make a difference.”

Meanwhile, Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. echoed the themes of hope and renewal in his own Easter message. He reminded Filipinos that Christ’s Resurrection assures triumph even through adversity.

“It is a symbol of triumph, guiding us through challenges with the promise of better days ahead,” Teodoro said.

He also took the occasion to commend the country’s uniformed personnel, noting that their dedication reflects the Easter spirit of sacrifice, resilience, and hope.

The messages from both leaders resonate with the essence of Easter — a time not just for celebration, but for reflection, renewal, and purposeful action for the good of all.
