Islamabad, The Gulf Observer: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that educational institutions and teachers play a vital role in character-building and lay the foundations for national progress and prosperity.

In a message on the occasion of World Teachers’ Day, observed on October 5, the prime minister said Pakistan’s development was intrinsically linked to the quality of its education system and, above all, to the dedication and commitment of capable teachers.

He expressed his heartfelt appreciation and profound respect for teachers in Pakistan and around the world for shouldering the responsibility of educating and nurturing the youth, whom he described as the architects of the future.

Prime Minister Shehbaz said teachers played an indispensable role in nurturing the individuality of young people, developing their abilities and expanding their knowledge. By fostering intellectual development, shaping minds and guiding generations, teachers also contributed to establishing the shared social foundations and values of societies.

He observed that teachers’ dedication, knowledge and commitment were instrumental in shaping the future of nations and constituted the cornerstone of every successful education system.

Teachers, he added, fostered a spirit of inquiry among students while equipping them with the confidence and skills required to succeed in a rapidly changing world.

The prime minister stressed that only an inclusive and future-oriented education system, responsive to the challenges and opportunities presented by artificial intelligence, climate change, technological advancement and a knowledge-based employment landscape, could ensure a brighter future.

He said emerging challenges required students to be equipped not only with knowledge but also with critical thinking, creativity, ethical values, adaptability and the capacity for lifelong learning.

Prime Minister Shehbaz said making Pakistan’s education system merit-based, high-quality and aligned with global standards remained a foremost priority of the government.

He highlighted the establishment and expansion of Danish Schools across the country as an important initiative aimed at making quality education accessible to capable and talented students.

He further said the government’s commitment to ensuring equal educational opportunities was reflected in the expansion of the Danish Schools network, particularly to provide quality education to talented and deserving children from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
