President Emomali Rahmon Leads Solemn Ceremony Honoring Tajik National Heroes at Dushanbe Airport

Dushanbe, The Gulf Observer: President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, personally attended a solemn ceremony at Dushanbe International Airport marking the reception of soil brought from the burial sites of prominent national figures — Heroes of Tajikistan Nusratullo Makhsum and Shirinsho Shotemur, as well as renowned cultural personality Nisor Muhammad.
The Head of State’s direct participation in the historic and spiritual ceremony underscored the high regard of the Government of Tajikistan for national history, cultural heritage, state sovereignty, and the enduring legacy of the nation’s distinguished sons.
The airport premises were specially decorated for the occasion, while members of the Honor Guard lined both sides of the red carpet in a formal display of respect. In a dignified and solemn atmosphere, and following an official report to the President, Honor Guard personnel ceremonially carried the capsules containing soil from the heroes’ burial sites, draped in the national flag of the Republic of Tajikistan, to the airport square with full honors.
President Rahmon paid deep tribute to the memory of Nusratullo Makhsum, Shirinsho Shotemur, and Nisor Muhammad, highlighting their historic contributions to the formation and development of modern Tajik statehood. He noted that Makhsum and Shotemur are regarded among the founders of modern Tajik statehood, having played a vital role in safeguarding national interests, defining administrative boundaries, preserving national identity, and laying the foundations of state institutions.
The President emphasized that, in the years of independence, Tajikistan has given special attention to studying and honoring the legacy of its outstanding historical figures. He stated that their lives and services continue to serve as exemplary models of patriotism, loyalty, and devotion to the homeland.
Following the airport ceremony, participants proceeded under an honorary motorcycle escort to the Central Cathedral Mosque of Dushanbe. Funeral prayers were offered, after which the burial ceremony of the heroes’ remains is scheduled to take place at Luchob Cemetery in accordance with Islamic traditions and with full state honors.
The event was described as a significant moment in the country’s modern history, symbolizing the restoration of historical memory, the affirmation of national identity, and the recognition of the sacrifices made by the nation’s devoted sons. It is expected to be remembered as a landmark occasion reflecting the continuity of Tajikistan’s cultural and historical legacy under state independence.
