President Erdogan Meets World Bank President in Ankara
Ankara, The Gulf Observer: President Recep Tayyip Erdogan welcomed World Bank President Ajay Banga in the Turkish capital on Tuesday. The closed-door meeting took place at the presidential complex, with no additional details disclosed by officials.
This visit marks Banga’s first trip to Türkiye as the head of the World Bank Group. Earlier in the day, he was also received by Turkish Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek at the ministry.
Discussions during Banga’s meetings in Ankara focused on Türkiye’s 2024-2028 Country Partnership Framework (CPF) with the World Bank. Key areas of potential cooperation included the development of resilient cities, energy transformation, infrastructure projects, support for small- and medium-sized enterprises, and employment initiatives.
Minister Simsek, in a statement on X, highlighted these focal points and emphasized the importance of ongoing collaboration between Türkiye and the World Bank. Banga expressed the World Bank’s support for Ankara’s economic program, affirming the institution’s commitment to aiding Türkiye’s development goals.
These high-level meetings underscore the strengthening partnership between Türkiye and the World Bank, aiming to foster sustainable economic growth and development in the region.
