President Ilham Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva Pay Tribute to National Leader Heydar Aliyev

Baku, The Gulf Observer: President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva on May 9 visited the tomb of National Leader Heydar Aliyev at the Alley of Honors ahead of the 103rd anniversary of his birth, commemorated on May 10.

President Ilham Aliyev laid a wreath at the tomb of the National Leader and paid tribute to the architect and founder of the modern independent Azerbaijani state.

First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva also honored the memory of Heydar Aliyev during the ceremony.

The National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was performed as part of the commemorative event.

The President and the First Lady later placed flowers at the grave of Zarifa Aliyeva, the wife of the National Leader and a distinguished ophthalmologist and academician.

They also paid tribute to prominent statesman Aziz Aliyev and Professor Tamerlan Aliyev.
