President Ilham Aliyev Highlights Progress in Social Reforms and Economic Development
Baku, The Gulf Observer: In a recent interview with local television channels, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev discussed the government’s continued efforts in the social sphere, emphasizing measures to improve the well-being of citizens.
President Aliyev noted that minimum wages in Azerbaijan have increased as of January 1, reflecting the government’s commitment to social justice and economic fairness. “For a country that has made such large investments and has such a tall task of restoring Karabakh, paying attention to this area, of course, shows the essence of our policy,” stated the President. “Azerbaijani citizens should be able to live better year after year.”
The President highlighted that the increase in minimum wages outpaced inflation, which stood at just over 2% last year. He described this as “another aid from the government to the vulnerable population,” emphasizing the importance of fairness in society, politics, and family life.
President Aliyev further elaborated on the government’s sustained efforts, citing the implementation of four social packages over recent years. “More than 7 billion manats have been spent for this purpose,” he said, underscoring the significant investment in social welfare.
Looking ahead, the President pledged that social and economic development will continue to advance in tandem. “As economic opportunities increase, we will always pay attention to addressing social issues – increasing the minimum wage, pensions, and social benefits,” he stated.
These initiatives reaffirm Azerbaijan’s commitment to improving the quality of life for its citizens while maintaining a balanced approach to economic growth and social justice.
